Ah! I haven’t posted in SO long! I’ve been crazy busy at work and constantly sick for the past three months. No fun. I also wanted to take a bit of a break to focus on me and my mental health a bit. I’m sure some of you can relate, but the end of the year isn’t always the easiest. I’m almost back to normal sickness level (yay for chronic illness, right? lol) and I am recommitting to this blog and to posting! I’m super excited for some of the things I have planned for this year! I’m super pumped about the new year!
But enough about me…. Oh, wait… This whole post is about me 😛
Well me, and how I’m going to be the same Sarah as last year. Does that sound depressing to you? I don’t think it is. Don’t get me wrong, I totally intend on improving myself and my habits – more on that in a bit – but I don’t understand the obsession with becoming a new person just because we switch calendars. You are always you and I hate that society tells us we need to change who we are. I mean, I can’t deny I’ve felt the pressure to conform, but I’m working on it.
Just because I’m planning on being the same Sarah I was last year, doesn’t mean I’m not opposed to working on myself. In fact, I absolutely plan on it! Despite the fact that I’m not a fan of New Year resolutions, I am all about New Year goals! Goals are meant to obtained and crushed! Which is exactly what I plan on doing!
My main goal for 2018 is to be healthier!
In fact, health is my 2018 word. I’m going to focus on doing things that are good for me and help improve myself mentally and physically. I’m super excited about this and I’m ready to make 2018 my year.
One thing I am committed to this year is 80 Day Obsession by Beachbody! I am so excited about committing to this program! In the past when I tried to commit to a workout program, I failed. Why? Because I wasn’t doing it for me. So simple, right? But doing it because I’m supposed to or because it is expected or any other reason than I WANTED to has backfired. So when I finally decided to do this because I WANTED to, because I’m excited to make a change, because I want to see real freaking results, I knew Beachbody was the right fit because they are a community filled with support and accountability. I spent all day grocery shopping and food prepping for the nutrition part of the program. 80DO doesn’t start until the 15th, but I’m going to start working on the nutrition part now so by the time the program gets here, I’ll be nailing it daily. I’m excited – are you? I’ll be posting more about my eats, progress, and all things Beachbody here as this gets going!
I also plan to work on mindfulness and stress in my life. I let little things get to me too much and it reflects in the way I treat myself and others at home and at work. This is obviously not a good way to function. I also plan to work on how much I sleep; two or three hours a night is bad for all areas of my health.
Around October, I started focusing on taking better care of my hair in some sort of natural hair journey (not in the strictest sense of the word) and I plan to continue this and hope to make lots of progress. I’ll share what’s been working for me and all that when I get a little more figured out. It’s been really gratifying to see real changes and to embrace my naturally curly hair.
All in all, I’m super excited to embrace health this year and to share my journey with you!
What is your 2018 word? Have you tried any Beachbody programs in the past?
